A suspected robber was killed and another arrested during an exchange of fire between Shaheen Force personnel and alleged robbers near Saadi Town in Scheme 33 within the jurisdiction of the Sacchal police station.
The encounter took place when Shaheen Force officers on routine patrol found suspects involved in robbing citizens. Upon seeing the police, the suspects reportedly opened fire. As the cops returned fire, one of the suspects was killed on the scene and another was arrested. The deceased suspect was identified as Rehan Ali, while the arrested suspect was identified as Islamuddin.
Police recovered two pistols with ammunition and a motorcycle from their possession. According to District East SSP Zubair Nazeer Shaikh, the suspects were engaged in street crime when the Shaheen Force team arrived at the spot.
During the exchange of fire, one suspect was killed while the other was apprehended. The body of the deceased suspect was shifted to a hospital for legal formalities. Police officials said the criminal record of the deceased and arrested suspects was also being obtained.
One killed, two injured
One person was killed and two others were injured in two firing incidents in Karachi. A man was shot dead in the Saeedabad area of Baldia Town. Police said the incident occurred near Ali Chowk in Saeedabad where unknown assailants opened fire, killing a man believed to be around 30 years old on the spot.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed. The body was shifted to a hospital for legal formalities. SHO Parvez stated that the incident appears to be the result of a personal enmity.
In another incident, a 74-year-old man, Naseer, son of Aziz, was injured by a stray bullet near Umar Masjid in Chandni Chowk, Paposh Nagar. According to Chhipa officials, the injured man was immediately shifted to a hospital for medical treatment where his condition was reported to be out of danger.
In a separate incident near Usman Park in Lyari, 28-year-old Nauman, son of Nazeer Ahmed, was also injured after being hit by a bullet fired from an unknown direction. He was immediately shifted to the Civil Hospital where he received medical treatment.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered against five named and one unidentified suspect after a young man was killed and a woman injured during aerial firing at a wedding ceremony in Orangi Town Sector 9-E.
Police have arrested one suspect and recovered the weapon used in the firing, while raids are being conducted to arrest the remaining suspects. The incident occurred on the night between Friday and Saturday within the jurisdiction of the Orangi Town police station. During a wedding ceremony, heavy aerial firing took place resulting in the death of a young man, Moazzam, son of Mansoor Ali, while a 39-year-old woman, Najma, was injured.
Police registered the case on the complaint of the victim’s brother, Sufyan Ali, under sections related to unintentional murder. Five suspects have been nominated in the FIR along with one unidentified accused.
Reports say that Moazzam had attended a Qawwali night programme at his cousin’s wedding when intense aerial firing began during the event. CCTV footage of the incident has also surfaced showing that firing suddenly started during the ceremony.
During the chaos, Moazzam was hit by a bullet and collapsed to the ground. People nearby rushed to help him, but he could not survive due to the severity of the injury. Following the incident, Orangi Town Police took immediate action and arrested one suspect, Saqib, son of Abdul Khaliq. Police also recovered a 9mm pistol used in the firing along with empty shells from the scene. Police officials said efforts were under way to arrest the remaining suspects involved in the firing.
