The Sindh government has issued an alert to all relevant provincial departments in anticipation of heavy rainfall and hail across several districts in the coming days, said Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon in a statement on Sunday.
According to the senior minister, Sukkur, Kashmore, Ghotki, Jamshoro, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Larkana and Qambar-Shahdadkot were likely to experience significant rain with chances of hail at certain locations. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast that the rainfall may intensify today (April 6).
In preparation for the possible severe weather, authorities are ensuring effective drainage systems in urban areas, while pre-emptive measures are being taken to protect sensitive infrastructure and standing crops. Relevant agencies have been instructed to keep drainage networks fully operational and respond promptly to any emergency situations.
The Sindh government had mobilised district administrations, municipal bodies, rescue services and other departments to provide maximum support and facilities to the public, Memon said, adding that residents of low-lying areas had been advised to take precautionary measures and avoid unnecessary travel during the period.
Special attention was being given to farmers with government teams providing guidance and assistance to help them safeguard their crops. Memon emphasised that the provincial government stood firmly with farmers and was preparing an effective action plan to mitigate any potential losses.
