An all parties conference (APC) was held at the Karachi Press Club on Saturday under the banner of the Mili Yakjehti Council. It was hosted by the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) and brought together leaders from various political and religious parties.
The participants expressed solidarity with Iran and stressed the importance of unity among the Muslim Ummah in the light of current global challenges.
Speaking at the conference, MWM Central Vice Chairman Allama Ahmed Iqbal Rizvi said the United States and Israel were adversaries of the Muslim world. He criticised certain Muslim countries for aligning with the US, arguing that such policies had contributed to instability in the region, affecting countries, including Palestine, Lebanon and Iran.
He called for the Pakistani government to adopt a clear and bold stance against what he described as Zionist aggression and suggested import of affordable petroleum from Iran to provide relief to the public.
He also demanded the expulsion of US diplomatic personnel from Pakistan in order to safeguard national sovereignty and the interests of the Muslim Ummah.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan leader Sahibzada Abul Khair Muhammad Zubair said that US and Israeli policies posed a serious threat to global peace and were fuelling instability in the region. He emphasised that the Muslim Ummah must demonstrate unity and formulate a joint strategy to confront emerging challenges.
He added that the people of Pakistan had always stood by oppressed nations and would continue to do so. Tehreek Tahaffuz Aain-e-Pakistan leader Muhammad Zubair Umar noted that while the Muslim masses were united, there was a lack of unity among their rulers.
He said Iran had demonstrated that strong institutions were the true foundation of a nation’s strength.
Other speakers, including Syed Munir Haider Shah of the Jeay Sindh, Syed Arshad Hussain Naqvi of the Pakistan Peoples Party and Muhammad Hussain Mehanti the Jamaat-e-Islami, criticised Western policies and expressed support for Iran.
They also highlighted the importance of maintaining sectarian harmony in Pakistan and warned against attempts to create divisions.
Naqvi expressed condolences to the Iranian leadership stating that Khamenei had made great sacrifices. He also recalled the role of former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in promoting unity within the Muslim world.
Mehanti remarked that Iran represented true sovereignty in the Islamic world and praised its leadership for demonstrating resilience, adding that despite 36 days of conflict, Iran had remained steadfast.
Asadullah Bhutto stated that the current situation was not a sectarian divide but a broader ideological conflict.
Leaders from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Shia Ulema Council, Jafaria Alliance, Haith-e-Aima Masajid, Pakistan Awami Tehreek and Tehreek Bedari Ummat also addressed the conference. The speakers reaffirmed their solidarity with Iran during this critical time, condemned the US and Israeli policies, and called on the Arab countries to eliminate US military bases from their territories. They stressed the urgent need for unity within the Muslim Ummah and called for the people of Pakistan to remain united, uphold sectarian harmony and collectively face global challenges.
