A wedding celebration in Orangi Town turned tragic after firing left a young man dead. Due to firing at another wedding in Orangi, a woman was injured after being hit by a stray bullet, police said on Saturday.
The incident occurred in Orangi Town Sector 9 where 25-year-old Muzammil, son of Sanober, was critically wounded during the firing and later died at a hospital.
He was a local resident who had contracted marriage three months ago. He was attending the wedding ceremony of a relative when a bullet hit him.
According to police, a separate but related incident was reported in Orangi Town Sector 13 where a 39-year-old woman, Najma, sustained injuries after being hit by a bullet allegedly firing during a wedding ceremony. She was shifted to hospital for treatment.
Following the incident, police initially detained the groom’s father and brother for questioning while the main suspect fled the scene. However, the authorities later arrested the suspect, identified as Saqib, along with the weapon.
Police officials said the firing occurred during the wedding ceremony, and initial investigations suggested that the bullet that injured the woman was fired during the wedding.
Police added investigations were under way to determine the exact sequence of events.
