Situation has improved in Karachi after rains: mayor

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab visited various areas of the city on Friday to review the overall situation following the recent rains. He inspected multiple locations in District Keamari, including Shershah and Baldia Town, and reviewed rescue and rehabilitation efforts.

He said that compared to the past, the city’s situation has much improved, and due to timely actions by the administration, rescue operations were completed swiftly. He added that the administration effectively handled the second spell of rains due to its proactive strategy.

He appreciated the performance of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, KWSC and SSWMB V staff, stating that their efforts significantly reduced public difficulties. He noted that only minor issues currently persist in the city, and instructions have been issued for their immediate resolution.

Wahab said he had visited District East, South, and Central on Thursday, and on Friday he was present in Keamari and West to personally review rescue operations and public complaints. He emphasized that wherever public complaints are received, he wwould fulfil his responsibility as mayor to ensure their resolution.

Meanwhile, the mayor also visited Tariq Road and Nursery areas, where he inspected a road collapse caused by the rain. He directed the town administration to ensure immediate restoration.
