LAHORE : Commissioner Lahore division Marryam Khan and DC Lahore Capt (retd) Ali Ijaz visited MM Alam Road and reviewed the ongoing operation and practical steps to eliminate extra electric poles and hanging wires.
On this occasion, GM Technical Rai Asghar, Chief Engineer Lesco Faisal Zakaria, President MM Alam Road Mian Saleem gave a briefing. They said that field operations have been started after full consultation with stakeholders.
The transfer of transformers from MM Alam Road has started and Lesco regional teams have been mobilised in the field. The work has started with heavy machinery and shifting from poles to mounted pads is in progress.
Commissioner Lahore said that the government instructions regarding extra poles on the roads will be strictly implemented. The operation to eliminate hanging wires in the city is also underway in stages.
She said that more than 20 transformers on MM Alam Road are being shifted and more than 50 poles are being removed from the road. She said that Lesco should implement its plan completely. The district administration is providing full support to Lahore Lesco, she added.
Commissioner Lahore said that the elimination of excess poles and untidy wires in the city will facilitate electricity transmission and the repair and maintenance of transformers will increase the beautification of city. Untidy cables and wires are an obstacle to the safety and beauty of the city.
