3,076 cops to perform duty on Easter

LAHORE : The Lahore Police Operations Wing has finalised comprehensive security arrangements across the city for the Christian festival of Easter.

On the directions of DIG Operations Faisal Kamran, a security plan has been implemented for 647 churches. According to the spokesperson, 3,076 officers and personnel, including 130 female officers, will be deployed at churches.

Additionally, 526 personnel will be deployed at parks and recreational areas. Dolphin Squad, PRU teams, 16 Elite Force units, and special squads will conduct patrols. Walk-through gates, metal detectors, and CCTV monitoring will remain active at all churches.

Meanwhile, Punjab Police has placed security on high alert across the province due to increased activity in markets ahead of Easter.

IG Punjab has directed strict security measures. More than 17,000 police personnel will be deployed across the province, including over 3,000 in Lahore.

Special patrols by Dolphin Force, PRU, and Elite teams have been ordered, while CCTV monitoring and additional traffic wardens have also been deployed.

Theft, robbery incidents

Multiple incidents of theft and robbery were reported across the city, where citizens were deprived of cash, jewelry, mobile phones, motorcycles, and vehicles worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.

According to details, in Kot Lakhpat, a citizen named Nasir was robbed of Rs400,000 and a mobile phone. In Naseerabad, Tahir was deprived of Rs195,000 and a mobile phone. In Anarkali, Armaghan lost Rs175,000 and a mobile phone.

In Manga Mandi, Nafees Ahmad was robbed of Rs255,000 and a mobile phone. In Ghaziabad, robbers took Rs200,000 and a mobile phone from Zahoor, while in Burki, Mazhar was deprived of Rs250,000, a mobile phone, and other valuables.

Separately, cars were also stolen from Kot Lakhpat, Shadman, and Samanabad areas while motorcycles were stolen from Islampura, Sabzazar, and Garhi Shahu.

Bike thieves arrested

Nawab Town Police arrested a two-member gang involved in motorcycle theft and snatching incidents.

According to the spokesperson, the arrested suspects, identified as Arsalan and Ali Ahmed alias Tony, were involved in multiple crimes. Police recovered two stolen motorcycles, four mobile phones, cash amounting to thousands of rupees, two knives, and one illegal pistol along with bullets. Cases have been registered against the suspects.
