Rawalpindi:Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Engr Amir Khattak on Friday visited the Kutcheri Chowk remodelling project along with officials of the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) and reviewed ongoing construction activities.

During the visit, the officers of relevant departments, engineers and contractors briefed the commissioner on the progress of the project, highlighting that work was continuing at a fast pace in double shifts.

The briefing highlighted that the overall progress of the project had reached 76 per cent. At Kutcheri intersection 74 per cent work has been completed, Iftikhar Janjua stood at 72 per cent and Annexy Chowk at 71 per cent.

Officials further informed that utility ducts were 83 per cent complete, pedestrian bridges 50 per cent, tube wells 96 per cent and retaining walls 98 per cent complete. The project, which began in November last year with an initial completion timeline of 18 months, was now being accelerated considering public convenience, with a revised target set for May this year.

The commissioner directed all concerned departments to ensure completion of the project within the stipulated timeline. He instructed the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) to complete all work on time while maintaining quality standards.

He also directed the highway department to immediately start work on the elevated crossing between Jinnah Park and Kutcheri (District Courts) premises to facilitate smooth public movement.

While appreciating the performance of the highway department, he emphasized the need for proper signage and effective street lighting in the area to ensure a safe and convenient environment for citizens. He stressed that the project must be completed within the deadline without compromising on construction quality.
