Lesco official fired over power theft, corruption

LAHORE:Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) has dismissed a lineman from service for involvement in power theft and corruption.

According to spokesperson for power utility, Muhammad Asif Saleem, attached to Taj Bagh Sub-Division, was found guilty of stealing electricity, illegally collecting money from consumers, and being absent from duty. Saleem was given a chance to defend himself but failed to appear. After reviewing evidence, he was terminated from service.

The Lesco Chief Executive Officer Engineer Muhammad Ramzan Butt stated that the company is implementing a zero-tolerance policy against corruption and power theft.
