LAHORE: Commissioner Lahore Division Marryam Khan has instructed the deputy commissioners of all four districts of Lahore Division regarding the early pre-monsoon.
She said that all districts should immediately contact the Meteorological Department. There is a change in the weather pattern, complete the arrangements 100 percent. She said that de-silting operations should be expedited, backup generators must be activated for disposal and lift stations. Complete operations for cleaning garbage and rubbish in Lahore canals and drains. Commissioner Lahore said that all districts should identify and take practical steps. Take steps according to weather forecast, rainfall, and advance planning.
A divisional meeting was held under the chairpersonship of Commissioner Lahore Division Marryam Khan regarding the early pre-monsoon review and arrangements. Commissioner reviewed the underground storage capacity and progress in the City. Wasa MD Ghufran Ahmed, while briefing the Commissioner, informed that all the steps like underpasses, disposal stations, rain gauges in Lahore are on full automation. Wasa Monitoring, Operations and Response Control Room is working from a 24-hour command centre. The central monitoring and control centre established at Wasa Head Office will continuously monitor the surging points and underpasses.
Commissioner said that the districts should monitor the urban flooding arrangements and water flow in Ravi and Sutlej. Availability of special teams and machinery at the surging points and underpasses is essential, all SOPs of Lahore for early pre-monsoon will also be applicable to the districts.
In the meeting, DC Lahore Captain ® Ali Ijaz, DC Sheikhupura Shahid Imran Marth, DC Nankana Rao Tasleem Akhtar, DC Kasur Asif Raza, Wasa MD Ghufran Ahmed, Additional Commissioner Muhammad Arshad Bhatti, ACG Wajiha Samreen, Aleem Ahmed, Shahid Ahmed Rescue District Incharge Lahore, Irrigation Department and all ACs attended the meeting through a video link.
