CHITRAL: Two women were killed while five others, including children, were injured when a passenger jeep travelling from Koshat to Booni plunged into a deep ravine at the Janali Coach point on Tuesday.
According to police, a total of seven persons were on board the ill-fated jeep. The remaining three injured were currently receiving treatment at the tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Booni and were said to be out of danger.
Preliminary reports suggested that the accident occurred due to the dilapidated condition of the road and overspeeding. Local residents promptly took part in rescue efforts and helped transport the injured to the hospital.
The injured were immediately shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Booni, where after initial medical treatment, two critically injured individuals were referred to the District Headquarters Hospital in Lower Chitral. Upon receiving information, Upper Chitral Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Imran Khan along with other officials visited the accident site. He directed the Rescue 1122 teams to respond immediately, who shifted the bodies of the deceased and the injured to the hospital.
