Travelogue on Turkiye launched

PESHAWAR: The travelogue “Istanbul Say Gallipoli Takk” by noted Pakistani-Canadian Urdu and Hindko writer and broadcaster from Peshawar, Aftab Iqbal Bano, was launched here on Tuesday.

The literary event was held at the China Window, with Director Culture Halima Iqbal as the chief guest. Literary figures, including senior columnist Mushtaq Shabab, known Urdu, Hindko and English poet Prof Malik Arshad Hussain, Kulsoom Zaib and Naz Parveen, expressed views on the book.

The speakers described the travelogue as comprehensive, beautifully portraying Turkiye’s historical sites, scenic islands, Ottoman heritage, and the significant World War I battle ground of Gallipoli.

They termed the publication an outstanding literary work and hoped that the author would continue contributing to literature in the future.The chief guest paid tribute to the author, noting that although Aftab Iqbal Bano is based in Canada, her heart still beats for her hometown, Peshawar. She termed the launch of her book in her native city a commendable initiative.

The author, Aftab Iqbal Bano, said that her passion for literature is natural, which has led her to write several books and research articles in Urdu and her mother language, Hindko.
