PESHAWAR: An anti-terrorism court here on Tuesday adjourned the hearing of a case related to the attack on the Radio Pakistan building and damage to vehicles on its premises, directing the District Public Prosecutor (DPP) and other parties to submit their responses by April 9.

The hearing was conducted by ATC Judge Wali Muhammad Khan. During the proceedings, District Public Prosecutor Peshawar Sifatullah and counsel for Radio Pakistan, Shabbir Hussain Gigyani, appeared before the court, while the special prosecutor failed to attend.

The court was informed that a mob attacked the Radio Pakistan building on May 9, 2023, setting parts of it on fire and causing damage to property.Police registered a case at East Cantonment Police Station, nominating several current and former members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), along with around 80 party workers.

During the hearing, Radio Pakistan’s counsel informed the court that the identification and verification of the main suspects had been carried out by Nadra and the Punjab Forensic Science Agency. However, he noted that the prosecution had yet to submit the challan in the case.

The counsel further told the court that a contempt of court petition had been filed against the DPP, the investigating officer, and the public prosecutor of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) for failing to submit the challan. The DPP requested additional time to file a response, which the court granted, adjourning the proceedings until April 9 and directing all parties to submit their replies at the next hearing.
