LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has imposed a fine of PKR 2 crore on fast bowler Naseem Shah following disciplinary proceedings into violations of his Central Contract and the PCB’s Social Media Guidelines.

According to the PCB, a show cause notice was issued to Naseem on March 27, outlining the breaches and seeking his response. After reviewing his reply, a personal hearing was conducted by a three-member Disciplinary Committee on March 30. The committee noted Naseem’s unconditional apology but determined that he had breached multiple clauses of his contract.

In addition to the fine, the PCB confirmed that Naseem had already terminated the services of his social media adviser, who has now been blacklisted from associating with any PCB-contracted player.

The PCB emphasised its commitment to maintaining professional standards and protecting the integrity of the game. “The Board remains committed to upholding contractual obligations and ensuring discipline across all levels of cricket,” a statement read.

Naseem Shah, one of Pakistan’s leading fast bowlers, has been a central figure in the national team set-up since his teenage debut. His rise has coincided with increased visibility on social media platforms, where players are expected to adhere to strict PCB guidelines.

The PCB has previously too has taken disciplinary action against players for breaches of conduct, reinforcing its stance that professionalism off the field is as important as performance on it. This latest case highlights the Board’s determination to regulate player behavior in line with contractual obligations, especially in an era where digital presence carries significant influence.
