Rawalpindi:The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Rawalpindi alerted field teams and deployed them in different areas.
Due to the heavy rain, the water level in Nullah Leh also rose slightly. The local population was also instructed to remain alert. Due to the rain, the water level in Nullah Leh rose to 5.5 feet at Katarian and 5 feet at Gowalmandi.
Meanwhile, according to MD WASA Azizullah Khan, the recent days including the rain on Monday. The rain have increased the water reserves in the twin cities and surrounding areas. The water level in Rawal Dam was recorded at 1744 feet, while the dead level of water in Rawal Dam is 1706 feet.
Similarly, the foundation level in Khanpur Dam was recorded at 1952 feet, where the dead level of water is 1910 feet. He said that due to the rains, there is a possibility of improvement in the water level underground as well.
On the other hand, he said that in view of the intermittent rain in the twin cities since last night, WASA staff and heavy machinery have been deployed in the low-lying areas, while the drainage process is going on in the low-lying areas of Liaquat Bagh, Committee Chowk Underpass, Murree Road and Sadiqabad.
He said that continuous monitoring of Nullah Leh is being done, however, the water flow in Nullah Leh is normal. The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hasan Waqar Cheema along with MD WASA visited around Nullah Leh. The Deputy Commissioner (DC), Rawalpindi Hasan Waqar Cheema has directed all departments to be alert due to heavy rainfall in future days from April 1 to 4.
