CUI seeks land for new campuses in Karachi, Quetta

Islamabad:Professor Raheel Qamar, Rector of COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), called on Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Khalid Maqbool Siddiqi to discuss key initiatives aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s higher education landscape.

During the meeting, the Rector formally requested the allocation of land for the establishment of new COMSATS campuses in Karachi and Quetta, underscoring the growing demand for quality higher education in these regions.

The minister welcomed the proposal and expressed his commitment to facilitating the development of these campuses, terming it a step toward expanding educational access nationwide.

The discussion also focused on Pakistan’s participation in the upcoming 46th Session of the Executive Council and the 15th General Conference of ICESCO, scheduled to take place in Kazan from May 13–15, 2026.

In this context, Prof. Qamar conveyed COMSATS’ interest in hosting a future ICESCO General Conference in Pakistan, positioning the country as an active contributor to global academic collaboration.
