PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Khateeb, Maulana Muhammad Tayyab Qureshi on Monday welcomed the recent statement by the Afghan regime foreign minister who expressed the willingness to engage in talks with Pakistan and assuring that Afghan soil would not be used against Pakistan.
According to a statement, the Maulana termed the statement an important development for the restoration of bilateral relations and the establishment of peace between the two countries.
The KP chief khateeb noted that certain statements from across the border have been exacerbating tensions and negatively affecting relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan.He hoped that a series of provocative remarks against Pakistan would subside after the Afghan foreign minister’s statement, paving the way for smooth progress toward dialogue between the two nations.
Maulana Qureshi stated that the state of Pakistan and its people have extended more support and hospitality to the Afghan nation than any other country, in line with their Islamic and cultural traditions, an effort acknowledged globally.
He urged the Afghan regime not to miss any opportunity for peace with Pakistan and to fulfill its responsibilities by addressing the concerns of Pakistan and other neighboring countries to ensure regional stability.
The KP chief khateeb emphasized that Afghanistan is in dire need of peace, as it is facing numerous challenges.He said these issues can only be resolved through the elimination of terrorism and the establishment of lasting peace, which would ultimately put Afghanistan on the path to development.
Maulana Qureshi praised the role of Pakistan’s leadership and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir during the Iran-Israel conflict.He said every Pakistanis should take pride in their country and armed forces as prudent decisions have enabled Pakistan to gain recognition in global politics.
