BATKHELA: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUIF) provincial chief Senator Maulana Attaur Rehman on Monday said that the ‘global establishment’ had imposed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which still lacked a programme to run the province despite remaining in power for the past 13 years.

Addressing a gathering of the Malakand Division general council members in Batkhela in connection with the upcoming Dastoor-e-Islam Conference, he said that law and order in the province had deteriorated and in tribal areas, people were forced to return home before sunset due to insecurity.

He said that the Dastoor-e-Islam Conference, scheduled to be held in Mardan on April 12 under JUIF’s banner, would help improve the province’s condition and addressing the challenges facing the country.

Other speakers at the gathering included Senator Maulana Attaul Haq Darwesh, Abdul Jalil Jan, Muhammad Rahim Haqqani, JUIF district chief Subhan Ali, district general secretary Maulana Salman Taseer as well as district leaders and general secretaries from across the division.

Maulana Attaur Rehman said that saving the younger generation from destruction was a collective responsibility. Questioning the persistence of militancy, he asked how large the number of militants was that they cannot be eliminated.

He alleged that elections were being turned into a drama, claiming that although his party’s candidates had won but victory notifications were issued in favour of others. The Maulana questioned why Punjab enjoyed peace while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa faced unrest, asking who was responsible.

He said the religio-political parties had always rendered sacrifices for the country and warned that further drama in elections would not be tolerated. The JUIF leader added that making the April 12 gathering a success would effectively be a defeat for the global establishment. He expressed confidence that the people would stand with them again.
