9 held in double murder case in Haripur

HARIPUR: The police have arrested nine suspects involved in a double murder and firing incident near Darwesh area, officials said on Sunday.

DPO Haripur Shafi Ullah Gandapur told journalists that Abdul Razzaq, his son Iftikhar were returning home in a rickshaw on March 26 after a court hearing when armed men opened fire on them near Madina CNG. As a result, both father and son died on the spot while the rickshaw driver sustained injuries.

Following the incident, the DPO said after conducting raids and search operations across the district, the police successfully tracked down and apprehended all nine suspects nominated in the FIR. Those arrested were identified as Naqash Ahmed, Aftab Ahmed (alias Mohsin), Dilzak Khan, Fayyaz Ahmed, Khanvez, Chan Zeb, Sajid Iqbal, Sher Dad, Ramzan. Police have also recovered two motorcycles, a high-roof van, two rifles and a 30 bore pistol used in the incident from the accused.

The motive behind the gruesome murder was an old enmity between the parties. The slain were facing charges of being involved in a double murder case in Kag village on June, 30, 2025.DPO Haripur has directed the SP Investigation to personally oversee the case to ensure the investigation remains transparent and merit-based.
