LAHORE: Islamabad United’s captain Shadab Khan stated that his team lacked ingredient what was required by their batters against Multan. After Islamabad United’s loss to Multan Sultans in their PSL 11 opener, captain Shadab Khan admitted his side fell short with the bat and highlighted key learning points for the campaign ahead.

Shadab acknowledged that United’s total was below expectations. “I think we were 15 to 20 runs short of the par score, but it is the first game. We didn’t get the momentum, and when we needed it, we lost wickets back-to-back,” he said. He credited Multan’s bowlers for their bravery in sticking to testing lengths, noting that Islamabad must avoid losing consecutive wickets in future matches.

Reflecting on the batting effort, Shadab pointed out the lack of sustained partnerships. “Our top four got set, but they didn’t go long. That is the part we missed, but it is the first game and hopefully we’ll learn from this,” he explained. The inability of set batters to convert starts into bigger scores proved costly in a high-scoring contest.
