LAHORE: Hyderabad Kingsmen captain Marnus Labuschagne admitted his side has alarming areas to address following their second consecutive loss in the Pakistan Super League 2026, as they fell to Quetta Gladiators by 40 runs at the Gaddafi Stadium.
Labuschagne pointed to the team’s repeated failures in the opening overs as a major concern. “Both games, we have lost 2–3 wickets in the powerplay and that stems the flow of runs. They (Ayub and Maaz) are great players and we know they will come good,” he said. The early collapses have left Hyderabad chasing stability, forcing the middle order to rebuild under pressure.
Despite the setbacks, Labuschagne praised the team’s resilience through the middle overs, highlighting Maheesh Theekshana’s performance. “Theekshana was really good today and brought us back,” he noted. However, he acknowledged that Hyderabad’s death bowling remains a weak link. “Last two overs went for 28, so just working out our options and getting them right. But the only way is up,” he added.
Labuschagne also admitted that fielding errors cost the team valuable momentum. “Myself, dropped a sitter. We are training really well and the results will come off the back of that,” he said, taking responsibility for his own lapse while stressing the importance of sharper execution in the field.
