ISLAMABAD: The 36th Board Meeting of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), chaired by Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination and President PSB Rana Sana Ullah Khan, was held at the PSB Headquarters on 31 March 2026, where a comprehensive reform and development agenda for sports in the country was endorsed.
Director General PSB, Yasir Pirzada, presented the bi-annual performance report (July–December 2025), highlighting key initiatives in governance reforms, infrastructure development, athlete support, and international participation. The Board appreciated the efforts of the PSB management and unanimously approved the report, terming it a reflection of improved institutional performance and direction.
The Board approved a landmark Long-Term Athlete Development Programme (LTADP), shifting Pakistan’s sports system from an activity-based approach to a results-oriented model aligned with international best practices and Olympic cycles. All national sports federations have been directed to submit four-year development plans within 90 days, with financial support to be linked to performance and compliance.
In a major policy decision, the Board also approved a significant enhancement in PSB’s budget, recommending an increase from approximately Rs. 1.2 billion to Rs. 4.9 billion to meet growing demands of athlete training, international participation, coaching, and infrastructure. The matter will be taken up with the Prime Minister for approval.
On governance matters, the Board reviewed compliance with tenure rules for sports federations as per National Sports Policy 2005 and emphasized the need for transparent and fair elections, proposing the development of standardized guidelines. The Board also reaffirmed a zero-tolerance policy on doping especially in Pakistan Weightlifting Federation, officials of which were found involved in doping.
