I would like to draw the attention of the higher authorities to two major problems in Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, Rawalpindi: the shortage of water and the lack of public transport. The population of this area has now exceeded 100,000. Back in 1964, when the housing society was first established, the population was small and the water supply was sufficient. However, with the passage of time, the population continued to increase and the underground water level kept falling, which has now resulted in a severe water crisis.
Moreover, the pipelines, which are almost fifty years old, have become damaged. Due to leakages at many places, dirty water mixes with clean water, which is extremely harmful to health. There is also a serious shortage of public transport within Khayaban-e-Sir Syed. People belonging to middle- and low-income groups cannot afford expensive private transport. It is hoped that the concerned authorities will take immediate notice of these problems.
