LAHORE: Taking strict notice of the incident of a security guard administering anaesthesia to a patient at the Lady Wellington Hospital, the Punjab Health Department has suspended four senior consultants and a head nurse.
The contract with the security company concerned has also been terminated with an immediate effect. The services of officers/doctors have been suspended with an immediate effect on the grounds of negligence under Section 6 of the PEEDA Act, 2006.
The action has been taken on administrative grounds due to administration of anaesthesia to patients by a private security guard in the operation theatre. Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said there is no scope for violation of discipline in hospitals. “Safe treatment of patients is our top priority,” he added.
