HYDERABAD: Activists of the Pakistan Peoples Party Shaheed Bhutto (PPP-SB) Hyderabad staged a protest demonstration outside the Hyderabad SSP Office on Friday, demanding the arrest of the nominated suspects in the murder case of party organizer for District Hyderabad, Kashif Qaimkhani alias Kashif Baghi.
A large number of participants, including the deceased’s family members, relatives, friends and party workers, attended the protest. During the demonstration, party leaders said that the suspects involved in the murder of Kashif Baghi should be arrested immediately and justice should be provided to the victim’s family and friends.
They said the free movement of the killers raised serious questions about law and justice. They warned that if justice was delayed further, the scope of the protest would be expanded.
During the sit-in, SSP Shahzeb Chachar met the protesters and assured the deceased’s brother Asif Qaimkhani, Irshad Ali Khaskheli and Akbar Jhejo that the police would be given one week to arrest the killers and bring them to justice.
Following the SSP’s assurance, the sit-in was temporarily called off. However, the leaders made it clear that if action was not taken within the given time, a stronger protest would be announced.
On March 13, the bullet-riddled body of Kashif Baghi was found in an apartment located on Wadhu Wah Road in the jurisdiction of the Qasimabad police station.
An FIR was registered nominating a builder and one of the deceased’s friends as suspects in the case.
