ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Religious Affairs is all set to launch the Haj flight operation to airlift over 119,000 intending pilgrims from Pakistan to Saudi Arabia on April 18. The Ministry of Religious Affairs on Wednesday officially released the Haj flight schedule.
While announcing the Haj flight operation, it was stated that all intending pilgrims have also been issued Haj visas, marking the accomplishment of a key part of the Haj operation. According to details, over 119,000 intending pilgrims under the government’s regular scheme would be transported to Madina Al Munawwara and Jeddah through 468 flights operated by four airlines, including Pakistan International Airlines, Saudi Airlines, Air Blue and Air Sial.
On the first day of the pre-Haj operation, flights will depart from Karachi, Lahore, Sialkot and Multan for Madina Al Munawwara. The 34-day pre-Haj operation will continue until May 21, during which intending pilgrims will be transported to Madina via 186 flights during the first 15 days, while 282 flights will carry pilgrims to Jeddah from May 4.
According to the break-up, 129 flights will depart from Islamabad, 124 from Karachi, 104 from Lahore, 34 from Multan, 18 from Quetta, 26 from Sialkot, 23 from Faisalabad and five Haj flights will depart from Sukkur. In total, 67,230 male and 51,846 female Pakistanis will perform Haj under the government’s regular Haj scheme. The intending pilgrims are also being apprised of their Haj flight schedules.
