PESHAWAR: In the context of measures aimed at controlling the country’s energy crisis, the Peshawar High Court (PHC) has decided to conduct proceedings in various cases through video link.

The additional registrar (judicial), additional registrars of all circuit benches, and district and sessions judges have been directed to complete arrangements for video link facilities.According to a statement issued by the PHC registrar, the chief justice has instructed that the appearance of government officials in different types of cases be ensured through video link.

The statement further said that litigants, lawyers, and witnesses would now be able to participate in court proceedings via video link. The decision has been taken as part of the austerity drive under the National Judicial Policy.

The additional registrars and district judges have been directed to finalize video link arrangements, while applications for hearings through video link must be submitted at least three days prior to the hearing.

As per the order, litigants from remote areas will be required to submit an affidavit along with documentary evidence when applying for video link hearings in order to reduce difficulties and save energy.
