LAHORE: As the Pakistan Super League gears up for its 11th edition, Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan has described the tournament as the beginning of a “new era,” citing expanded teams, the introduction of a players’ auction, and heightened competition across the league.

In an interview, Shadab expressed excitement over the addition of two new franchises and reshuffled ownership structures, noting that these changes will make the tournament more unpredictable and thrilling. “The PSL has grown over the last 10 years, and it will continue to improve in this new phase. With eight teams now, there will be more combinations and greater competition,” he said.

Shadab highlighted the introduction of the players’ auction as the season’s biggest development. “As a player, you should know your value. I received offers from other franchises, but I’ve always said I won’t leave Islamabad United unless they release me,” he explained. He believes the auction system will redefine team-building strategies while giving players clarity about their role and worth in franchise cricket.

Assessing his squad, Shadab pointed to the balance between youth and experience, particularly in the fast-bowling department.
