NOWSHERA: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah formally inaugurated the “Ehsas Tree Plantation Campaign” on the Pakistan Day by planting a sapling at the AFV Range located on Cherat Road in the Azakhel Speen Kani area of Nowshera district.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Nowshera Deputy Commissioner Irfanullah Mehsud, secretary Forests, chief conservator of Forests, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Relief) Ejaz Akhtar, Assistant Commissioner Pabbi, district administration and police officials,, teachers, members of civil society, students, local representatives, and area elders in a large number.
Addressing the ceremony, the chief secretary said that under the campaign, launched on Pakistan Day, a target had been set to plant one million saplings across the province in a single day.
He added that plantation activities were being carried out simultaneously at 285 different locations across the province.
Alongside government efforts, he said, the people were also actively participating in the campaign.
The chief secretary said that promoting a greener Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was an urgent need to tackle challenges such as environmental protection and climate change, and that it could guarantee a safe and prosperous future for the country.
He said that the Pakistan Day taught the nation to strengthen its commitment to public service, integrity and responsibility.
For effective monitoring of the campaign, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IT Board has established a modern web portal and a central control system through which plantation activities are being monitored via mobile images and live videos.
The Forest Department has also set up a central control room.
