PESHAWAR: A bank was looted in the provincial capital during the Eidul Fitr holidays, with millions of rupees in cash and gold stolen.
The robbery took place at a private bank located on Kohat Road.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) registered at Bana Mari Police Station, the robbers took away Rs13.5 million in cash and 441 tolas of gold from the lockers. Reports said that around four robbers were involved, while no security guard was on duty at the time.
It was reported that although the alarm system of a private company was triggered, the alert was not communicated in time.
The robbers reportedly entered the premises from the back after breaking through a wall and also disabled all CCTV cameras.
Police launched an investigation into the incident.
In another crime, a citizen was shot at by robbers within the limits of Rahman Baba Police Station during Eid.
Residents managed to apprehend one of the robbers, who was later handed over to the police, while the other managed to escape. Several incidents of robbery and snatching were reported in the area during Ramazan.
