PESHAWAR: Security was upgraded all over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Eidul Fitr by deputing more contingents on sensitive and crowded places.

All the regional and district police officers were directed to upgrade security for the festival. Measures were taken and special security arranged for public places, trade centres and sensitive places.

The Capital City Police Peshawar finalized a security and traffic plan to ensure peace and order during Eidul Fitr.

Under the plan, more than 5,500 police officers and personnel were performing security and traffic duties across the city.

They included Ladies Police, Ababeel Squad, City Patrolling Force, Traffic Police, Local Police, RRF, ATS, BDU and other special units.

Also, surveillance was being carried out in densely populated markets through horse riders. Besides, Ladies Special Squad have also been deployed while areas are being swept by sniffer dogs.

Some areas were also being monitored through drone cameras. Security was put on high alert at the city’s entry and exit routes.

Capital City police officer Mian Saeed, chief traffic officer Zahid Ullah and SSP Operations Farhan Khan visited different areas the day before Eidul Fitr on Friday to inspect security and traffic arrangements in Peshawar.

For the Eid prayers, Eidgahs and sensitive mosques were swept by BDU teams before prayers.

Personnel in civvies were deputed to monitor suspicious persons. Police patrols were increased, and armored vehicles and special forces remained on alert.

Special measures were also taken to prevent festive firing on Chand Raat—the night before Eidul Fitr.

A public awareness campaign was carried out while all the officers were directed to take strict action in case of any violation.

The Capital City Police Peshawar had appealed to the public to support the Peshawar Police in maintaining law and order.

Special arrangements were made by traffic police officers and personnel to keep traffic flowing in the city. More wardens and officers were deputed to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.
