PESHAWAR: Like the official central Ruet e Hilal committee, the private moon sighting committee of Masjid Qasim Ali Khan could not receive credible testimonies of sighting moon and announced observance of 30th Roza (fasting) today (Friday), while Eidul Fitr would be observed tomorrow (Saturday).

The meeting of the private committee continued till 10:30 under Maulana Khairul Bashar. Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai was not present in the meeting. The meeting was attended by a number of religious scholars. Only six persons had turned up to give testimonies of sighting the moon. However, after thorough deliberations, the witnesses were declared not credible enough.

However, some private clerics in different parts of the province declared to observe Eid today. Among them are the sons of late Mohib Babaji in Mardan, who declared observance of Eid in their mosque and adjacent areas today.
