KARACHI: The closure of Pakistan’s airspace for all types of Indian flights has been extended for another month.

According to 12th NOTAM issued by Pakistan Airport Authority on Wednesday afternoon, Indian airlines, aircraft operated by Indian operators, planes registered in India, and Indian military aircraft will remain banned from entering the Pakistani airspace for an additional month. The NOTAM states Pakistan’s airspace will remain closed to Indian aircraft until 5:00am on April 24, 2026. Following Pakistan-India tensions, Pakistan Airport Authority had initially closed its airspace to Indian aircraft on April 23, 2025.

With the new NOTAM, the closure will complete one full year on April 23, 2026.

This restriction is affecting more than 200 Indian commercial flights daily. Due to longer travel distances, the need for new stopovers in different countries, and passengers shifting to foreign airlines, Indian carriers have suffered losses amounting to billions of rupees.
