ISLAMABAD: In a high-profile case involving the alleged abuse and harassment of a vulnerable family, the Islamabad Police have arrested ASI Shahid Khan.

According to official sources, the accused officer has been shifted to a lockup after a formal case was registered against him under various sections of the law. The arrest follows serious allegations leveled by the affected family, which include harassment, gross misuse of official authority and alleged assault.

The Sangjani Police have registered a formal case against an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Islamabad Police and several others following a violent assault, attempted abduction, and robbery of two women near the Sangjani GT Road stop.

The victim, identified as Aisha Khan, a resident of Wah Cantt, submitted a written complaint stating that the incident occurred early Wednesday morning around 6:15am. According to the First Information Report (FIR), Aisha and her mother were traveling to meet her father, Jamshed Ali, who is currently in police custody at Sangjani Police Station on physical remand.

The complainant alleged that as they reached the GT Road stop, their path was intercepted by a white Suzuki Alto (registration RLF-1902) bearing the name "Khan" on the rear. ASI Shahid Khan, armed with a pistol, emerged from the vehicle alongside his brother Shahbaz, his father Khan Afsar, and three unidentified accomplices.

The victim stated that the suspects issued death threats and used derogatory language before physically assaulting them. The men reportedly grabbed both women by their arms and attempted to force them into the vehicle with the intent to abduct them.

The harrowing ordeal only shifted when the victims’ screams attracted the attention of passing motorists, causing the suspects to retreat. Before fleeing the scene at high speed, the suspects forcibly snatched Aisha’s handbag, which contained Rs75,000 in cash and two gold rings.

The complainant further noted that ASI Shahid Khan had previously misused his official authority to register several "baseless" FIRs against her father in various police stations. Following the application, the Sangjani Police have registered a case under multiple sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including Section 392 (Robbery), 365/511 (Attempted Kidnapping), 354 (Assault on woman with intent to outrage modesty), 341 (Wrongful Restraint), and 506ii (Criminal Intimidation), along with Section 155C of the Police Order 2002. SHO Sangjani has assigned Sub-Inspector Waheed as the investigation officer to lead the probe into the conduct of the accused official and his accomplices.
