LAKKI MARWAT: A free-eye camp was held in Lakki Marwat on Tuesday to mark the World Glaucoma Week with the the spirit to highlight the importance of regular eye screening to detect the disease early and make the southern region glaucoma-free.
Dr Zakir Hussain, a renowned eye specialist and organiser of the camp, said that the aim of the camp was to provide the patients suffering from the dangerous eye disease with free eye screening facility and raise awareness among the public about glaucoma. He said that timely diagnosis could save patients from the dangers of glaucoma.
At the camp, Dr Zakir and his team examined the patients and conducted other necessary tests including the pressure within the eye. The experts also gave free medicines and advice to the patients suffering from glaucoma.
They assured that they would support the patients in continuing their treatment regularly. The experts also conducted screening of people who were suspected of having glaucoma so that the disease could be diagnosed at an early stage. Dr Zakir said that glaucoma was a silent disease that gradually affected vision.
