Islamabad:Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Islamabad Police Muhammad Jawad Tariq chaired a high-level meeting to review security arrangements for Eid-ul-Fitr and discuss strategies for crime prevention in the federal capital, specially, during the Eid holidays.
The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation Muhammad Usman Tariq Butt, SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza, SSP Security, zonal SPs and the SP Capital Patrol.
During the meeting, the DIG directed officials to ensure comprehensive security at markets, mosques and recreational spots on ‘Chand Raat’ and during Eid celebrations. He instructed that all patrolling units remain visibly active in the field and that patrol operations be made more purposeful and effective.
Jawad also ordered stricter checking at entry and exit points of the city to enhance security. He directed police to launch a crackdown against aerial firing, hooliganism and one-wheeling. Special police squads will be deployed at recreational locations, along with foot patrols, bicycle patrol teams and mounted police units to maintain law and order.
The DIG further instructed that foolproof security arrangements be ensured at mosques during Eid congregations, including body searches of attendees where necessary. Police officers were also directed to hold meetings with neighborhood committees during the Eid holidays and to launch public awareness campaigns urging citizens to properly lock their homes and maintain adequate lighting before leaving their houses.
To maintain smooth traffic flow, traffic officers will be deployed at busy locations and recreational areas across the city. The DIG emphasised that the arrest of proclaimed offenders and criminals with prior records involved in serious crimes must be ensured. He reiterated that protecting the lives and property of citizens remains the top priority of Islamabad Police.
