LAHORE:Police have arrested a domestic worker accused of suffocating a two-yearold child in the Harbanspura area, while in a separate incident, authorities have launched an investigation into the mysterious death of a 10-monthold infant in Barki.
A domestic worker, identified as Aneela, was taken into custody after police responded to an emergency call.The suspect allegedly placed a pillow over the face of the toddler, Zaid, leading to his death. Police said the act was committed after the accused was reprimanded by her employer. A case was registered on the complaint of the child’s father, M Umar. In a separate case, tension escalated within a family following the death of a 10-monthold infant, Hussain, in the Barki area under unclear circumstances.
Police said the child had been given in care to a relative due to family disputes had persisted between the biological mother and in-laws. The situation worsened after the mother, Samra, reportedly left for her parents’ home following a disagreement days before the incident.
The infant fell ill and was taken to hospital, where he later died. Subsequently, the adoptive father, Moazzam, accused the child’s mother of causing harm, while sources indicated counter-allegations from the maternal side. Police said the exact cause of death would be determined after the autopsy report.
Police have arrested a suspected thief allegedly involved in stealing electricity wires, air-conditioner transformers and vehicle batteries in the provincial capital.The arrest was made by Gujjarpura police during a targeted operation on Begumpura Road.
The suspect, identified as Kashif, was traced and apprehended with the help of CCTV camera footage. Police said the footage showed the accused stealing electricity wires from different locations.
Officials added that tools allegedly used in the thefts, including a knife, pliers and wire cutters, were recovered from the suspect’s possession. A case was registered against the accused.
PSCA responded to a call received on Emergency Helpline 15 and helped the field police for apprehending a suspect involved in snatching a mobile phone from a citizen in the area of Barkat Market.
According to details, a motorcyclist snatched a mobile phone from a citizen. Immediately after the occurrence of the incident, the affected citizen reported the incident by calling Emergency Helpline-15 and lodged a formal complaint.According to the PSCA's spokesperson, upon receiving the information, the Virtual Patrolling Officer traced the suspect’s movement using advanced AI- based surveillance cameras and promptly shared the location with the relevant field police teams. The field police on the tip off provided by PSCA's Patrolling Officer, the field police arrested the suspect in no time.
