MANSEHRA: The Mansehra district administration on Monday decided to establish tourists’ facilitation centres to provide weather, road opening and other information to tourists coming to enjoy the scenic destinations on Eid holidays.

“We expect a heavy influx of visitors to the tourist resort of Shogran, lower Kaghan and other scenic destinations across the district on Eid. The police and other relevant departments should remain vigilant to provide security and information about weather and road conditions,” Mian Behzad Adil, the deputy commissioner, told a meeting held at his office.

The heads and representatives of devolved departments and tehsil municipal administrations from Mansehra, Oghi, Balakot, Baffa-Pakhal and Darband attended the meeting. The deputy commissioner said that facilitation centres would be established at tourist destinations to provide an opportunity to visitors to enjoy their recreational trips with peace of mind.

He said that police would remain on alert for the safety of citizens and maintain the smooth flow of traffic during the Eid holidays. “The police personnel would be deployed in and outside mosques during the Eid congregations throughout the district,” the official said.

The deputy commissioner also informed participants that Section 144 of CrPC was also being imposed with immediate effect to ban celebratory firing on the night before Eid, one-wheeling, sale of artificial guns and all sorts of explosive materials, and swimming in rivers across the district.

The official directed tehsil municipal officers to immediately launch anti-encroachment drives in their respective jurisdictions to ensure the smooth flow of traffic after removing permanent and temporary structures in the right-of-way on roads and bazaars.
