PESHAWAR: Rehman Medical Institute (RMI) organised an awareness seminar and iftar dinner focusing on children suffering from congenital heart diseases.

RMI Chairman Prof Dr Muhammad Rehman, CEO Shafique ur Rehman, Pakistan Children Heart Foundation (PCHF) CEO Farhan Ahmed, along with noted cardiologists, surgeons, and other participants from different walks of life attended the event.

The purpose of the event was to raise awareness in society about congenital heart diseases in children and highlight the importance of timely diagnosis and treatment.

According to medical experts, approximately one out of every 100 children born in Pakistan suffered from a congenital heart disease, making early detection and treatment critically important.

It was shared during the event that more than 100 successful heart surgeries had been performed at Rehman Medical Institute with the support of the Pakistan Children Heart Foundation. The parents of these children did not have to pay a single rupee for the treatment.

Speaking on the occasion, RMI CEO Shafique ur Rehman appreciated the efforts of the Pakistan Children Heart Foundation and emphasized that all institutions must work together to build a healthier society.

He said that the foundation, having experienced the pain of such challenges firsthand, had taken responsibility to ease the suffering of parents whose children are born with heart defects, and that RMI was proud to be part of this noble initiative.

Former Pakistan cricket team captain Misbah-ul-Haq also attended the ceremony and appreciated the efforts being made for this humanitarian cause. He remarked that such initiatives not only help save children’s lives but also promote hope and compassion in society.

It is worth mentioning that children born with congenital heart defects, such as holes in the heart or other conditions requiring open-heart surgery, which often costs hundreds of thousands of rupees, receive completely free treatment at RMI with the support of the Pakistan Children Heart Foundation. At the conclusion of the event, honourary shields were presented to distinguished guests.
