An anti-terrorism court (ATC) has adjourned the hearing of Mustafa Amir murder case until March 28 when it is expected to start recording statements of the prosecution witnesses against main accused Armaghan Kamran and his accomplice.

Armaghan, alias Army, and his accomplice Sheeraz Hussain Bukhari, alias Shavez, were arrested in February last year for their alleged involvement in the murder of Mustafa at a bungalow in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on January 6, 2025.

On February 26, the court had framed charges against both the accused, who then pleaded not guity and vowed to contest them.

As the case came up for hearing before the ATC-VII at the judicial complex inside the Central Prison, Armaghan and Sheeraz were produced from the jail. The case, however, was put off to March 28 due to the judge being on leave.

The court office issued summons to the prosecution witnesses to appear on next hearing for recording their testimony and remanded the accused back to the prison.

Last year in August, the investigation officer (IO), Muhammad Ali, had filed the final charge sheet in the case. According to the investigation report, the last location of victim Mustafa’s mobile phone was found at the residence of Armaghan. The mobile phone location of Armaghan and Sheeraz was also traced to the same place at that time.

It said that forensic tests confirmed that blood samples collected from Armaghan’s bungalow matched with those of the victim, adding that CCTV footage showing bloodstains being cleaned from the crime scene had also been recovered.

The IO said Armaghan and Sheeraz took Mustafa to Balochistan in his car with their CDR data confirming their presence near the Hamdard University. Two eyewitnesses, a Suzuki driver and a hotel owner, had recorded their statements, he mentioned.

He said that CCTV footage showed the suspects returning to Karachi from Balochistan in a Suzuki vehicle. Armaghan later led police to the place where he set the victim’s car to fire. All forensic reports had been received, and CCTV footage verified as authentic, the charge sheet stated. It further stated that the suspects confirmed calling Mustafa’s mother to demand ransom.
