Jamaat-e-islami (JI) Karachi emir Monem Zafar has said that although Karachi is the economic hub of Pakistan and contributes the highest amount of taxes in the country, its citizens remain deprived of basic facilities such as electricity, water and transport.
Addressing a public gathering and Iftar dinner titled “Jeenay Do Karachi Ko” at Hazara Colony’s ground, he said that feudal lords and waderas have been imposed on the people in the form of the provincial government of the Pakistan Peoples Party, which has taken control of Karachi’s resources and institutions and deprived citizens of their right to live.
He said there is a need to rise against this injustice and struggle for the people’s rights.
Zafar also said that the United States and Israel want to destroy Muslim countries and create divisions among Muslims, adding that the Muslim world must adopt a united strategy against them.
He further said that with the support of the United States, Israel has martyred around 75,000 Palestinians over the past two and a half years and devastated the population of about 2.3 to 2.4 million people in the Gaza Strip. He alleged that the United States not only supported Israel but also provided weapons used in the bombardment of Gaza.
He said Muslims in Palestine are making sacrifices to protect the first Qibla and are not ready to bow before Israel. He added that the holy month of Ramazan is a month of struggle and sacrifice, urging the Muslims to adopt piety and engage in worship, particularly during the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramazan.
