MCL forms squad to remove illegal constructions

LAHORE : The district administration has constituted a mega demolition squad for carrying out a grand operation against illegal constructions in the provincial metropolis.

A list of illegal constructions was also sought from all Zonal Officers (Planning) so that the demolition action will be carried out on a daily basis.

The notification of the demolition squad consisted of 29 employees and it was issued by Chief Officer, Metropolitan Cooperation Lahore (MCL), Shahid Abbas and Metropolitan Officer Planning Dr Rai Imtiaz Hassan. The notification said in order to control the illegal constructions constructed in violation of the approved building plan as well as the building and zoning bylaws of MCL-2020 and the violation of building bylaws, master plan and map, a demolition squad needs to be formed to demolish illegal/unauthorised constructions in the zonal circles of MCL-2020.

According to the notification, Zonal Officer (Planning), Assistant Zonal Officer (Planning) and the Building Inspectors/Enforcement Inspectors concerned posted at the Zonal level were responsible as per the powers conferred under Section 165 (i) of PLGA-2025 and Clause 6 and 7 of the implemented SOPs issued by MCL.
