DALLAS: A large procession commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (RA), the revered figure in Islamic history and the fourth caliph of Islam, was held in downtown Dallas under the auspices of Anjuman Sarkar-e-Wafa, drawing a significant number of male and female mourners.

Participants carried ceremonial standards and symbolic replicas of coffins while reciting elegies, devotional poetry and lamentations in remembrance of Hazrat Ali’s martyrdom. Through rhythmic mourning rituals and recitations, devotees paid tribute to the legacy of the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) cousin and son-in-law.

The procession moved through the heart of downtown Dallas, circling the area around the Kennedy Memorial. Throughout the march, mourners continued reciting elegies and performing traditional mourning rituals while invoking the name of Hazrat Ali and honouring the family of the Prophet, known as the Ahl al-Bayt. The atmosphere resonated with chants and devotional recitations as participants advanced in an orderly and disciplined manner.

During the gathering, the religious scholar Allama Mudassar Naqvi addressed the mourners, emphasising that the life of Hazrat Ali (RA) represents a timeless example of justice, truth and service to humanity. He said that Ali (RA) and his family made extraordinary sacrifices to safeguard the message and principles of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and to uphold the values of Islam in the face of adversity.

Many attendees said that the teachings of Hazrat Ali (RA) and the Ahl al-Bayt continue to inspire lessons of patience, justice, compassion and resistance against oppression.

They described Hazrat Ali’s martyrdom not merely as a historical event but as a powerful moral reminder that challenges believers to distinguish between truth and falsehood.

Speakers and participants noted that the sacrifices of the Prophet’s family serve as a guide for every generation, urging societies to uphold principles of justice, honesty and humanity. They said Hazrat Ali’s life stands as an enduring model of ethical leadership and fairness.

At the conclusion of the procession, participants offered prayers for peace, unity and the well-being of humanity, reaffirming their commitment to the values associated with Hazrat Ali’s legacy.
