Lanjar calls for unwavering public trust in police

Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar on Wednesday visited the Central Police Office (CPO) Karachi, where he reviewed the city’s overall security situation, the monitoring system, and the security arrangements made on the occasion of the martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali (RA).

Officials said that upon arrival at the CPO, Sindh IGP Javed Alam Odho and other senior police officers received him. Minister for Local Government Nasir Hussain Shah was also present on the occasion.

Lanjar inspected the Central Command and Control Center, where he was briefed on the monitoring being carried out through CCTV cameras installed across the city, measures taken for crime prevention, and the overall security arrangements. IGP Odho informed the home minister that with the use of modern technology, various areas of the city are being continuously monitored, while a special security plan is also being effectively implemented in view of important religious occasions.

Lanjar said that effective monitoring and timely preventive measures play a fundamental role in controlling crime and maintaining law and order. He appreciated the performance of the Sindh police, stating that the police force is fulfilling its professional responsibilities in an exemplary manner.

He further said that the Sindh government is striving to equip the police with modern technology, necessary equipment, and training in line with contemporary requirements so that the protection of citizens’ lives and property can be made more effective. He also emphasized that public trust in the police should remain strong and unwavering, and institutional capacities are being further strengthened to achieve this objective.

Later, the home minister visited the routes of the main procession of the martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali (RA) and reviewed the security arrangements. He was given a briefing regarding police deployment, traffic management, surveillance systems, and other security measures along the procession routes. Expressing satisfaction over the arrangements, he directed the authorities to ensure the peaceful conduct of the procession at all costs.

He said the martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali (RA) teaches us patience, tolerance, and mutual respect, and that demonstrating unity and solidarity on such occasions is essential for social harmony. He added that all segments of society must play a collective role in promoting inter-sect harmony and religious tolerance.

Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah said the Sindh government is utilizing all available resources to ensure the peaceful conduct of religious gatherings and processions.

He said that exemplary discipline is maintained on every important religious occasion through the mutual cooperation of law enforcement agencies, the administration, and religious scholars. He further urged the public to fully cooperate with security institutions and to remain mindful of their responsibilities in maintaining law and order.
