Re-polling at 7 polling stations in Kalat set for today

QUETTA: The office of the Provincial Election Commissioner in Balochistan announced on Monday that repolling will be held at seven polling stations in the PB-36 Kalat constituency on March 10, with all administrative and security arrangements finalized.

According to a press release issued by the provincial election office, a total of 8,838 registered voters are eligible to cast their ballots during the repoll. Of these, 5,517 are male voters and 3,321 are female voters.

The election authorities have established seven polling stations in total, including one male polling station, one female polling station, and five combined polling stations. Additionally, 24 polling booths have been set up at these locations, comprising 17 booths for male voters and seven booths for female voters.

The repolling will see 36 candidates contesting for the provincial assembly seat. Speaking ahead of the repoll, Ali Asghar Sayal, the Provincial Election Commissioner for Balochistan, issued strict directives to the District Returning Officer, the Returning Officer, monitoring teams, and law-enforcement agencies to ensure that the voting process is conducted in a free, fair, and peaceful environment.

He emphasised that the Election Commission of Pakistan remains fully committed to conducting transparent and impartial elections and warned that any violation of the election code of conduct will not be tolerated. Polling will take place from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. without any break, allowing voters to exercise their democratic right throughout the day.
