PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Anti-Corruption Court on Monday issued a notice to the investigation officer of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Anti-Corruption Establishment and summoned him to record his statement in a multi-million-rupee wheat theft case related to the Azakhel storage facility in Nowshera.
The case was heard by Judge Asif Rasheed. During the hearing, the prosecution’s law officer informed the court that the ongoing trial was against the accused including Muhammad Arshad, Muhammad Khalid, Qazi Junaid Bacha and Tila Muhammad, while another accused, Usman Abid Shah, was still absconding.
The prosecution told the court that the accused were employees at the wheat storage warehouse in Azakhel, Nowshera, and allegedly embezzled around 1,700 tonnes of wheat in collusion.The alleged theft is said to have caused a loss of about Rs200 million to the national exchequer.
