MARDAN: A newborn baby girl found abandoned in Mohib Banda, Garhi Kapura, Mardan, was rescued and placed under the protective custody of the Child Protection Unit (CPU) Mardan.

A press release said that residents discovered the infant and informed Rescue 1122. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and ensured the safe recovery of the child.

After coordination with the relevant authorities, the newborn was shifted to a medical facility for examination, care, and observation to ensure her health and well-being.

The case was being handled by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Child Protection and Welfare Commission through the Child Protection Unit Mardan under the provisions of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Child Protection and Welfare Act, 2010.

The commission will ensure that the child received all necessary medical treatment, care, protection, and essential support until the process of family reunification was completed or legal guardianship was determined by a competent court of law.

Authorities initiated the required legal and administrative procedures to safeguard the best interests of the child.

The press release requested that any individual claiming to be the parents, relatives, or legal guardian of the newborn child should contact the Child Protection Unit Mardan and provide valid documentary proof of relationship for verification and further legal proceedings.
