Man killed, another hurt as robbers shoot motorcyclists

A man was gunned down and another was wounded when robbers opened fire on motorcyclists in Gulshan-e-Maymar on Sunday. With the latest incident, the number of people killed by robbers’ firing in Karachi this year has risen to 14.

According to police, the incident occurred near the Afghan cut on the Northern Bypass. The victims, identified as Mian Bakhsh, 30, and Shaukat, 36, were riding a motorbike when three suspects on another motorbike tried to stop them.

Gulshan-e-Maymar SHO Roshan Qarar said the suspects opened fire when the riders did not stop. “A bullet struck Mian Bakhsh in the back and passed through his body, hitting Shaukat, who was driving the motorcycle, in the back as well.”

As a result, Mian Bakhsh died on the spot while Shaukat suffered injuries. Police and rescue workers rushed the deceased and the injured to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Police said the victims were heading towards Gadap City at the time of the incident, adding that the suspects managed to escape from the scene
