LAHORE : Security has been tightened at all entry and exit points of the provincial capital, and checking at pickets has been intensified.
According to SP Mobiles Usama Amin Cheema, security across the city has been placed on high alert in view of the holy month of Ramazan.
At Saggian picket, police conducted an intelligence-based operation and recovered about 6 kilograms of charas worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from a vehicle. Two suspects, Azim and Abdul Rehman, were arrested and handed over to Chowki Saggian for further legal action.
A meeting of the Investigation Transfer First Board was held at the Investigation Headquarters under the chairmanship of SSP Investigation M Naveed.
All divisional SPs attended the meeting where 36 cases, including murder, breach of trust, kidnapping, cheque dishonour, fraud and theft, were reviewed. Applicants appeared before the board requesting a change of investigation. After hearing both parties, the board issued orders regarding transfer of investigations.
South Cantt Police arrested a proclaimed offender who had been wanted by police for two years. According to a police spokesperson, the suspect identified as Saleem was wanted in cases of criminal breach of trust, fraud and fighting. Police have taken him into custody. Police arrested four suspects involved in a firing incident following a dispute in the Kahna area.
Shahdara Town Police arrested a proclaimed offender wanted in a murder case. According to police, the suspect identified as Ejaz was involved in the murder of a citizen who was allegedly stabbed to death over suspicion of getting him dismissed from a job a year ago.
Police said a case had been registered against the suspect at Baghbanpura Police Station under murder and other charges.
