ISLAMABAD: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) has successfully completed its large-scale Winterization Initiative in Pakistan by distributing 22,000 Winter Kits to vulnerable communities across the country as part of its annual winter support programme.
According to the Saudi mission, under this humanitarian initiative, the 22,000 Winter Kits were distributed among residents of 28 of the coldest and snow-bound districts nationwide. The assistance targeted regions severely affected by harsh winter conditions, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, as well as selected areas of Punjab and Sindh experiencing low temperatures during the winter season. Each kit included two polyester quilts, warm shawls for both men and women, and winter clothing for children and adults. They helped families cope with extreme weather conditions and reduced vulnerabilities associated with winter.
Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Ahmad Al-Malikey oversaw the entire operation. The project was implemented in close coordination with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Provincial Disaster Management Authorities (PDMAs), the Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement Department (RRSD) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Gilgit-Baltistan Disaster Management Authority (GBDMA), the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA),
local administrations, and Hayat Foundation to ensure transparency, coordination, and effective delivery of assistance.
Through this coordinated effort, the initiative successfully benefited more than 151,236 individuals, reaffirming KSrelief’s continued commitment to alleviating winter-related hardships and improving the well-being of vulnerable populations across Pakistan.
